I'm finally ready to reveal my front porch! This vintage glider was the hold up but I'll tell you more about that in a sec....
Our porch is 10 feet wide so there is plenty of room. In previous years, I had rocking chairs lined up like little soldiers down the front. This year I decided to do something about it.
To the right of the front door, I arranged a seating area using some pieces of my white wicker set. The wicker had previously been on the screened porch. I had every intention of painting my wicker but after much research I decided not to. Plus there was just a part of me that really liked the white wicker with the style of our house. I anchored the seating areas with large outdoor rugs.
The two tables on this end are thrifty finds. I painted the bases white but left the top stained. This table holds a vintage fan to use on those really hot days!
This is my "sideboard." I used this sewing machine table for serving snack or beverages during get togethers like I did at Easter. I recently picked up this birdhouse at a yard sale. I think it needs a little color, don't you?
Now, down to the other end. See that glider? My husband bought it from an elderly lady on the back roads of Ruth, Mississippi. It had been sitting in her yard for years! This is what it looked like...
at Easter! You see, I've had this for about 4 years!! My husband FINALLY welded the seat after much begging! The seat had a lot of holes in it. I draped a quilt over it on Easter to hide it's ugliness. But this is what it looks like now....
The green turned out a little darker that what I wanted but, hey, I'm satisfied! It's still not perfect but that's alright, it has character! I've been wanting one for so many years but couldn't find one and online you could pay as much as a $1000 for a three seater. So, I'm satisfied with my $35 gift from my husband. Oh, and I need to thank Hunter for sanding and painting it for me. The two end tables are actually wooden tv trays that someone gave me about 10 years ago. They have been on my porch every since.
To complete the seating on this end, I used a piece of the wicker and a rocking chair. Now I have plenty of seating!
Thanks for stopping by!

OMGoodnes, your front porch looks amazing and I love that glider! It's funny, I've been eyeing a glider that has been sitting on a front porch of an old home for years now. I keep telling my husband every time we go pass it that I want to ask if they would sell it to me.....it looks just like your before. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your front porch make-over!

ReplyDeleteYour husband deserves a huge gold star for the glider mokeover. What a beauty she turned out to be. I'm coming over to sit on your very inviting porch.
ReplyDeleteThanks to everyone for all the lovely comments! I really appreciate it!
ReplyDeleteI just love, love this porch. The glider is the perfect touch and came out great. They just don't make things like they used to. This is so much more welcoming than a bunch of perfectly matched all weather wicker furniture! Great job and I would be out here with my feet up, a good book and a cool drink every day!
