About Me

My family and I live in the rolling Feliciana hills of Louisiana.  My husband is a carpenter by trade and we recycle a LOT of building materials in our home projects.  The biggest, of course, being our home.  We tore down a house built in the 1930's and used the materials towards building our current home.  Another major project was when we dug up an in ground vinyl lined swimming pool and reinstalled it in our backyard.  This year, we recycled cabinets and added a china closet.  This is a few examples of how we recycle.  We like to do things cheap but don't want it to look cheap!

I go to auctions and yard sales looking for good deals!  I love vintage items and try to mix them into the style of our traditional home, like I did in the office/craft area.  My side kick in crime, LOL, is my 17 year old son!  He is a collector as well and lets me "borrow" his things from time to time!

I am a huge dish fanatic, but on a budget!  I love to set a pretty table....it even makes the food taste better!  I'm a firm believer in "if you have it, use it."  Don't pack those pretty things away, use them!!!   We like to entertain, if it were up to me we would do a lot more than what we do now!  Besides smaller gatherings, we host two large annual events at our home, a 4th of July Barbecue and a Christmas Open House.

I love to visit other blogs!  I get so much inspiration from them and it prompts me to get on the ball and get my own projects done!  I would love for you to join me for "A Walk in the Countryside."
