Built Ford Tough–Tablescape

truck as centerpiece on Ford table

Last month was Hunter’s birthday and I shared his birthday table that was reminisce of his baby and toddler days.  To see the My Lil Buckaroo table, click here.  I also had another table. He didn’t want a party but I did invite family over for dinner and cake.  It was very hard to get him a cake that I thought he would like because he doesn’t like hunting, fishing, golf, etc.  At least, not to the point that he would want a cake decorated with it!  I was telling the baker some things that Hunter likes and she told me that she had prepared a cake before with a Honda motor on it.  I immediately thought of Ford.  He has always been an auto lover, especially Fords!  She agreed to do a cake with the Ford emblem and this is how it turned out!

It turned out great and he was surprised and pleased with it!  You should have heard my dad!  He’s a big Chevrolet fan!!  He had a good laugh out of it!  After I ordered the cake, I went to Goodwill because I remembered seeing this blue tablecloth that had reminded of the Ford blue.

I set the table in the breakfast to reflect this theme.  I pulled some items from his room to use on the table….a book, a truck, gloves.

To add a little extra eye candy, I went to my husband’s junk drawer and pulled out some washers, screws, bolts….anything I could use as a little filler for the votives!

White ironstone chargers (Homer Laughlin), black dinner plates ($ Tree), and light blue salad plate (Old Time Pottery) complete the place setting.

I tucked a tire air gauge in the napkin ring.

  6. If this isn't just the most creative....!!! Get down with your bad self, Tammy! This is just great! My husband was a physician for the Ford plant here for a number of years. He has all kinds of memorabilia I would have gladly packed up and sent to you before he realized it was missing! :-) You really went all out...even got the Ford blue for the tablecloth! That cake just "takes the cake"!!!
