British Colonial / West Indies Bedrooms

Whatever you call it, British Colonial or West Indies, you have the admit it’s beautiful!

Light colored walls that reflect the sun along with plenty of texture such as blinds and rugs!

Dark colored wood furniture, usually mahogany, is used.  The wood furniture original to England usually warped in the Caribbean's humid climate.

Light, airy linens that would flow in the ocean breezes.

Maybe a little animal print to remember past African safaris.

Add some well worn items, such as suitcases and trunks that would have been used during travel.

This is one of my favorite styles and am going to go with the style in the master bedroom.  The walls have been painted and new linens have been purchased.  Now, I’m on the lookout for some furniture!

Do you have a favorite style?

  3. Tammy all these rooms speak to me with the spa like atmosphere and the white and cream bedding. Love them all. I bet your master bedroom will be such a sanctuary when you are done.

  4. We must be birds of a feather. This has always been my favorite style! I used to dream of a bedroom with nothing more then a bed with sheers in the middle of the room and a balcony with a view. LOL! I'm such a romantic nut! Practicality prevailed though, I have the furniture that would work, a tobacco bed, some bamboo chairs and bits of pieces that all lean this way but am missing the light and airy feel. I cannot wait to see you pull this all together!
