British Colonial / West Indies Bedrooms

Whatever you call it, British Colonial or West Indies, you have the admit it’s beautiful!
Light colored walls that reflect the sun along with plenty of texture such as blinds and rugs!

Dark colored wood furniture, usually mahogany, is used.  The wood furniture original to England usually warped in the Caribbean's humid climate.
Light, airy linens that would flow in the ocean breezes.
Maybe a little animal print to remember past African safaris.
Add some well worn items, such as suitcases and trunks that would have been used during travel.
This is one of my favorite styles and am going to go with the style in the master bedroom.  The walls have been painted and new linens have been purchased.  Now, I’m on the lookout for some furniture!
Do you have a favorite style?

  1. Oh I so enjoyed these beautiful retreats. The take me back to the grand homes of hotels of the Caribbean. I love the clean, airy feel of all these rooms. I am relaxed just looking at each and every one. Thank you for sharing.

    1. I'm glad you enjoyed them! I've never been to the Caribbean but it's definitely on my bucket list!

  2. What beautiful and relaxing bedrooms...How I would love to spend a few days in any of those...I am sure your new bedroom will be just as beautiful. Happy decorating! Blessings!

  3. Tammy all these rooms speak to me with the spa like atmosphere and the white and cream bedding. Love them all. I bet your master bedroom will be such a sanctuary when you are done.

  4. We must be birds of a feather. This has always been my favorite style! I used to dream of a bedroom with nothing more then a bed with sheers in the middle of the room and a balcony with a view. LOL! I'm such a romantic nut! Practicality prevailed though, I have the furniture that would work, a tobacco bed, some bamboo chairs and bits of pieces that all lean this way but am missing the light and airy feel. I cannot wait to see you pull this all together!

  5. One of my favorite styles - just love the one from Ralph Lauren's Jamaica house!

  6. Oooh-la-la - this always makes me think VACATION!

  7. I love this style! You can just feel the breezes coming through the windows, and the curtains fluttering in the breeze. Great choice!

  8. Love that look too! What lovely pictures!

  9. This is my favorite! In fact, I have a few of these pics pinned on Pinterest! I love the neutral colors, the coolness, and calm feeling! Love, love, love it!

  10. Wow, love this look especially the first picture and the light and airy linen pic. I could relax in any of these.

  11. What great timing for this post! I'm getting ready to do our master in all white and these are some great inspiration pictures! Please share this over at Stylish Friday Finds. My readers would love to see it!
    Have a great weekend!

Thank you so much for all your lovely comments! I try to return the favor and visit each one of you! ~Blessings, Tammy~
