Goodness, it’s been two weeks since I posted a tablescape, well a regular one at least! Last week, I quickly threw one together since we were preparing for Hurricane Isaac and the week before I shared my coffee station.
Since it’s a 105 degrees outside and we’re still overcome with love bugs, I had to set the table inside. I think this tablescape would have looked better in the dining room but my tablecloth wouldn’t fit the table.
This is the first time I’ve used the Danish Modern flatware I purchased from the auction. As soon as I saw this tablecloth I thought of this flatware. I purchased it at a local store called Dirt Cheap. All the items are new but sold at a discount but you have to dig which I don’t like. Once I realized they sold a lot of napkins and tablecloths I started checking in often and purchased a lot of nice ones ranging from $1 to $5. Most of them are from Target.
Once I started arranging things, the table started going in a different direction. The black plates reflect the trim around the wood chargers. The pretty blue napkins that I would months ago at a thrift store for $2 matched the table perfectly.
Once I set the silver-plated salt and pepper shakers, I realized that the silver looked really good on this table!
In came the champagne bucket, tarnish and all! To bring in a little more brown, I used a set of iron birds that Hunter gave me last week.
Iced tea glasses by Gorham completes the table.
TIP OF THE DAY: Love bugs are hard to clean off the windshield, to make the job easier, use a dryer sheet.

Tammy, what a lovely tablescape! The silver just works with these colors!! Very pretty! LOL...I had never heard that tip before! I'll have to try that! Our windshield gets pelted once we cross the Louisiana state line! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteOkay, now I know I'm a Northerner as I've never heard of lovebugs - sounds to cute to be an insect.
ReplyDeleteThe table looks great - the silver finishes it beautifully. Glad you made it safely through Isaac.
Your table looks so pretty, Tammy. I've never heard of Dirt Cheap, but it sounds like a fun place to find great bargains.
ReplyDeleteTammy I really like this tablescape. The colors are some of my fav's. Love the table cloth! That flatware is also perfect for it. Oh I hate love bugs, but live more 'north' now (near Atlanta)...LOL!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, Tammy! Love the napkins.
ReplyDeleteWe don't have love bugs here in NY, but I am sure we have something equally annoying!
Thanks for linking to Let's Dish!
I would love that store, I love hunting for bargains!
Beautiful table, Tammy. A store that sells beautiful linens "dirt cheep" is my kind of store. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI remember love bug swarms in the late 60s here in TX. They would cover the front of cars as one drove down the highways. What a mess! Good luck with your invasion........Sarah
I am in love with the champagne bucket...it looks so cool! I love your whole tablescape!

Tammy,
ReplyDeleteLike that shade of napkins. Pretty table and love that centerpiece.
Love the blues and browns. Modern tarnish....think that I'll go with that the next time that I need to polish all that silver. Thanks for inviting us for a peak. Cherry Kay
ReplyDeleteOoh, your take on modern tarnish is gorgeous! Leaving the silver tarnished is something I can easily do.
ReplyDeleteLove your tablescape. So pretty and the silver looks amazing with the aqua and brown ( my new favorite colors ). Great finds on the silverware and the linens. Thanks so much for joining TTT. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful tablescape! I love the way you've used elements that complement one another. I'd love to be sitting at that table!
