This is a spur of the moment project in the corner of my living room that I haven't finished with yet. I'm actually working on my office and I needed to find a new home for this old music cabinet.
It actually belongs to Hunter. He bought it at an auction several years ago for $25. All the insides were gone including the Victrola up top but the cabinet itself was in perfect condition. Hunter tends to buy what he likes without regard to where he's going to put it. Since it was in such good shape and my cd/radio fit in it perfectly I offered to take it off his hands. I think when Hunter grows up and moves out, my house will be a little empty!
Now on to my our recent find. You see the two top landscapes? Hunter and I were at an auction a couple of weeks ago and five painted canvases went up. Nobody bidded and the price had dropped down to $3! My hand flew up, along with Hunter's at the same time! The auctioneer got me at $3 and Hunter at $4! So, we got five paintings for $4. I used two of them here.
The two smaller paintings are recent Goodwill finds. The framed painting was $5 and the unframed $2. I do plan on framing all of them. Like I said this was a spur of the moment project!
A little closer look....
Now I need a little advice. Should I paint the floor lamp or maybe put a lighter shade on it? Maybe when I get the frames, I need to go with a white or light color? Whatca think?
Thanks for stopping by! I would love if you would become a new follower! Leave me a comment and I'll follow you back.

The paintings really pop in the corner! We once had a music cabinet and they do hold a lot of things. This is a good use of the corner of the room.
ReplyDeleteI collect vintage landscapes - your collection is fabulous! Love the light - I do believe a lighter lampshade would be just the ticket!

Love the paintings and the music cabinet! Maybe a lighter lamp shade would do the trick. Your spur of the moment corner looks great!
ReplyDeleteLookin' good!! I'd say to lighten up the lamp and go with white frames to create contrast! Overall, looks really nice!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with Kelly about the lighter lampshade. And I love that corner with it's two French doors on either side. Very pretty!

I'd go with a creamy white lampshade. I love your little corner. That music cabinet is so pretty! And the art adds the perfect touch. I'd love it if you would share this at the You're Gonna Love It Tuesday party going on right now. Have a beautiful day ♥

I LOVE all of your finds. We would have been in a bidding war for those paintings! ;) I can see white frames on all of the prints. And I think a white shade would work well. I can't wait to see the finished look!
