Table Top Christmas Trees

Country Living

I just love this picture from Country Living!  It’s not necessarily the tree but all the numerous layers on the table and the area surrounding it!  This year I plan on putting on tabletop tree in the living room on the sofa table.  The full size tree will go in the sunroom.  I always struggle with decorating that table so this year will be a breeze, especially with such awesome inspiration!

I love the idea of using something as unique as an olive bucket to hold the tree!

Or even just a plain old galvanized bucket and if you don’t have a small table, use a stool!

How charming is this? …a vintage crock bowl!

Traditional Home

Glam it up some with a beautiful silver punch bowl!  This would look great in my dining room!

Tone on Tone Antiques

If you don’t have a container, cover the base with some faux snow!  The vintage iron fence adds a beautiful touch to this tree!

White and silver is such a classical and timeless combination!

Even something as simple as a cake plate can make quite an impact!

Coastal Cottage Tour

This beautiful home is located in Naples, Florida and was designed by Renee Gaddis Interiors.  I came across her portfolio while searching for the original source of a picture that I used in last week’s post on stairwells.  The first picture in that post was from this home.  To see that post, click here

The calming neutrals with a touch of blue is my favorite color combination!  There is a casual elegance to this space that I just love!

The dark wood in the recessed ceiling is such a special touch.

Notice the intricate detail on the bed frame and, once again, another gorgeous ceiling!

Here’s a peak into the guest house!  I would love to be a guest here!

Gallery Wall in Stairwell

Source

Hanging a gallery wall in our stairway has been an ongoing plan of mine for awhile.  I love art groupings or even mirrors!

I do have 4 or 5 vintage mirrors stored away that I could use.

I do have more grain sacks that I could frame like the ones in the above picture or like I posted about last week.  To see my grain sack art, click here.  What I really want to do is use vintage art, or maybe a mixture of art and mirrors!

Southern Living

Here’s my real dilemma! My stairway is enclosed like the one below so I don’t wait the gallery wall to make it look too closed in.  Personally, I think the one below is a little too much for my area.

What do you think?  Will it make my stairway seem smaller?  Or should I do one wall, two walls, or none at all?  Just use art work or a mixture of mirrors and art work?

Chandelier’s in the Bathroom

Source: All Things Shabby and Beautiful

One thing that I love is a chandelier in the bathroom!  It just glamourizes the space!

Especially, crystal chandeliers! The way the light reflects off the crystals is so romantic!

Rather they are centered in the room or

over the tub, they add a touch of elegance of the room!

The above picture even has one centered over the sink!

I love the fireplace mantel!

Louisiana Southern Home

While browsing the internet, I stumbled across this beautiful home tour at Southern Living.  Imagine my surprise when I saw that it was in my own back yard!  Well, more like about 50 or so miles away in the city of Baton Rouge!

If we were ever to build another home, it would be similar to this!  I adore plantation shutters and French doors!

The living room is so calm and soothing.

The homeowner suggest making antiques a focal point and I must agree!  They add great character!

I love the idea of building a larger cypress table to set over the existing bar!

Check out the massive upholstered headboard and the coordinating check on the beside table!  I have been looking for someone to cover a chair and the person that did this lives about 15 miles from me!

Outdoor living areas is a big thing here in south Louisiana!  The first thing I noticed in this picture is how she incorporated the grain sack pillows in this area!  Love it!

I hope you enjoyed this tour!  To see more, visit Southern Living.

British Colonial / West Indies Bedrooms

Whatever you call it, British Colonial or West Indies, you have the admit it’s beautiful!

Light colored walls that reflect the sun along with plenty of texture such as blinds and rugs!

Dark colored wood furniture, usually mahogany, is used.  The wood furniture original to England usually warped in the Caribbean's humid climate.

Light, airy linens that would flow in the ocean breezes.

Maybe a little animal print to remember past African safaris.

Add some well worn items, such as suitcases and trunks that would have been used during travel.

This is one of my favorite styles and am going to go with the style in the master bedroom.  The walls have been painted and new linens have been purchased.  Now, I’m on the lookout for some furniture!

Do you have a favorite style?
