Look’s pretty bad, doesn’t it? Savvy thought I was crazy for buying it, LOL! It’s a piece of Fiesta that I picked up at GW for 59 cents and I needed another yellow plate. Last week, I also purchased a whole set of white Pottery Barn dinnerware that also had a few utensil marks on it but nothing like this! I was planning on buying the Bar Keeper’s Friend that I had read about on Pinterest. Now I had the ultimate test piece. Would it or wouldn’t it work? Let’s see….
It most definitely worked! I left one side alone while I cleaned on the other. It took about 3-4 times scrubbing with the cleaner and a brush but it definitely worked! I was so excited!
I purchased it from Ace Hardware for less that $3. The consistency reminded me of Comet cleaner.
According to the can, it cleans quite a bit. Lately I have been cleaning like mad with baking soda and vinegar which works wonders but it didn’t work on this plate. After I use this on my PB dinnerware, it will be looking like new!

Heading to my local hardware store to pick some of this up!!! Wonder if it works on grungy pots and pans.
ReplyDeleteI have some Bartenders Friend in the liquid version and it works but maybe not as well as the powder. I'll be getting some of this also!
ReplyDeleteGood to know. Thanks for letting us know where you purchased your BKF.

ReplyDeleteI love Fiesta and that's a beauty! I just recently got some of the Bar Keeper's Friend -- both the powder and the creamy liquid and they are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteTammy,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this tip at my party this week...this is the kind of things that we love seeing here at NTT.

Great tip, I'll have to try some of this. I love your plate, what a bargain too. My every day white plates get those marks too and I've been using one of those Mr. Clean eraser sponges on them...it works wonders also.

Hey! I'm a new follower to your blog. Great tip! I have a set of white dishes I've been considering giving away even though they don't have any chips and we use them often. They have lots of knife marks. I'm going to try the BKF first. I sure hope it works. By the way, I'm researching cookware and thought you or one of your followers might point me in the right direction? I'm looking at the Calphalon Tri-Ply Stainless Steel 13 piece set. I'm also considering All Clad. Any chefs willing to recommend some good cookware?
ReplyDeleteI have owned a set of All Clad copper core pots/pans for two years. I ADORE THEM! You cannot go wrong with All Clad. They will be handed down to my children one day! I also have several pieces of Staub cookware. For long cooking meals I find I prefer the heavy braisers and dutch oven.
DeleteI use Bar Keepers Friend to clean my All Clad stainless cookware so already think it's a wonderful product. For utensil marks on plates, I use Mr. Clean Magic Erasers and find they work with much less elbow grease.
ReplyDeleteLIke others who have posted, I have this for my All Clad cookware but never thought of using it on my dishes. I will have to give this a try. Who knew that I had this wonder tool under my kitchen sink? Great tip! Thanks for passing it on!
ReplyDeleteBKF product also comes in a liquid and works like magic on any copper pots, etc you may have. I have used it on many things, but never thought to try it on dishes.
ReplyDeleteOK...so this will go onto my "Gotta Get" list! I had never heard of it before. Thanks, Tammy!
ReplyDeleteThis was an awesome tip! I have that exact color of fiestware (light yellow), along with 6 other colors and the yellow is the only one that has the marks. I can't wait to run out and get some Bar Keepers Friend. :)
