Livy, my summer helper, chose this tablecloth as the inspiration for this week’s tablescape. It’s a beautiful green with a white bold print. It was originally sold by Target but I purchased it at Dirt Cheap. I then chose the strawberry bowls which started the entire theme!
They brought back memories of when I was a child and coloring in my mom’s copy of Strawberry Girl by Lois Lenski. Yes, I loved to color on things when I was little and all the black and white pictures were just calling out to me! I can still remember laying on the the living room floor, under the coffee table, coloring underneath it…I actually colored the bottom of the actual table! My mom still has her copy of this book, minus the paper cover, and I have asked her for it but keep forgetting to bring it home with me!
I was originally going to use black gingham napkins but I came across these vintage napkins with an embroidered strawberry on it.
The square red plates (JCP) were layered with green salad plates (JCP) and topped with the strawberry bowls which were a yard sale purchase. The black handled flatware is from Amazon.
Candlewick tea glasses were paired with wine glasses from the Dollar Tree.
This pretty little tidbit server was a GW find, too!
How do you get inspiration for your tablescapes?

This is so pretty! It reminds me of a a table set for an old fashioned summer day. The dishes are just beautiful. I love the vase of flowers and was wondering what you have in there as a filler.

hi Tammy, I know people who don't understand or "get" the art of tablescaping, I personally think it's addicting and one thing leads to another...I love how you've married all your elements together into a strawberry field! Are those almonds in your flower vase?

Hi, Jenna! The vase is actually a woven wicker type vase from Hobby Lobby!
DeleteGood morning, Tammy! These are the kinds of tablescapes I really like. The ones that are inspired by something close and personal or with a story behind them.
ReplyDeleteYou have some great finds here, and it's always such a treat to be able to find things that really speak to you...especially when the price is right!!! I think we have a place here in the Kansas City area called Dirt Cheap, too, but they just sell furniture.
I really like the strawberry theme. I never read the book, but it looks like one I would have enjoyed!
Oh, I love this table...it is just a perfect way to showcase your precious book. I love the fact that your mother let you color in the drawings...What special memories you have!!!The dishes and stemware are beautiful. You really have set everything together so nicely! I love those glasses!
ReplyDeleteI was browsing a bit and noticed you have a booth at a mall. Have you had it for long? Are you enjoying it? My sister and I are working towards that here in the Houston area. We don't have anything firm but are working on our inventory. It's been a lot of work, but we're very excited about the adventure. Do you have any words of advice?
Thanks for dropping by my site and leaving such a sweet comment. I truly appreciate your visit!

I love strawberries so I had to come and peek! Your table is so pretty! I love your plates and candlewick glasses. I have candlewick cake plates which I love. Your tablecloth was a great pick!
ReplyDeleteI love when something we have, see or buy is our inspiration. Your book looks cute and it will have memories for you long after your mom is gone! Hang on to those precious memories!
Blessing My friend,
Love your table...love the book. Thanks for prompting my happy childhood memory of reading this book.
ReplyDeleteLove the strawberries and especially the napkins.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty and refreshing tablescape. And that book looks adorable. I love those old books and snatch them up at thrift stores whenever I see them.
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful! I've never seen that book but I'm going to look for it. I absolutely love strawberries. They're my favorite food and I love to decorate with strawberry themes. My kitchen is all strawberries. If you'd like to see, please stop by my blog. I came here from Seasonal Sundays. You have a lovely blog. :)

I have a friend who went through a phase of collecting all things strawberry so your table makes me think of her. She would like it! Inspiration comes from many places, sometimes the color of a flower.
ReplyDeleteTammy this is wonderful! I can't say what I like the most because I like it all. I enjoyed your story so much too. I have great memories about strawberries as well because my mom used to always call me her strawberry girl. LOL! I love those dishes, they are wonderful. I especially love the green tablecloth you used with this setting as well. It's all so gorgeous and very deliciously inviting!
ReplyDeleteTammy, we both did red/green this week...great minds think alike! Love the tablecloth. That little candlewick tidbit server is so cute.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week...
Strawberry Girl was one of my favorite books as a child, as well as other Lois Lenski books. A couple of years ago, I found it in paperback at a used book store. It was so fun reading it again. Thanks for the memories!
