Noritake First Blush–A Thrifty Find

noritake first blush

I know, I know!  I said I wasn’t going to buy anymore dishes BUT I just couldn’t pass them up!  Last weekend, while thrifty shopping, I stopped in at a few yard sales.  I found a large set of Noritake china for $35.  I fell in love with the sweet floral pattern.  After a little price negotiations, I came home with the set for $25!

The pattern is called Noritake First Blush.  It was made from 1976 to 1982. Replacements.com has it listed at $14.99 for one plate!  So I think I got a really great deal!

It has a few serving pieces, such as this platter.

On the another find….  I have been wanted an Oreck vacuum cleaner but didn’t want to pay the high price.  I’ve used one before and have found that they work really well on hardwood floors.  Most upright vacuums just blow the dust around but the Oreck just sucks it up!

Well, I just one!  Instead of paying $300 or more, I pay $1!!!  The lady said that it has been stored in the garage for years and that it worked when they stored it.  She didn’t like it because she had all carpet and it doesn’t have a real wide suction area.

After getting it home, I wiped it up and plugged it end.  It had a new bag already in it and it started working immediately.  It worked like a charm!  I still can’t believe she only wanted a dollar for it!

That’s just a few of the finds I found last weekend.  Have you found any treasures lately?

  4. You struck gold! A whole set of gorgeous dishes for 35.00?! YES! And the vacuum is a real steal. I've been looking for something that works on hardwood. Even the "electric broom" I have (can't remember name) does not suck well and blows everything around. I'd love an Oreck, but I have to get lucky like you first!!

    Jane

    1. Hi Jane! Actually, I ended up get the set of dishes for 25.00! I've tried the electric brooms, too! The best one I found was the Electrolux Rechargeable. Too bad, it didn't last a year before it stopped holding a charge! Thanks for the visit!

  7. I also have an Oreck. I love it for the carpet. Be very careful and watch your floors. It took the finish off my linoleum. It spins so fast that it made my floor dull very quickly.

Your dishes are pretty and a great deal. I have a set of Noritake Firenze pattern.
