Galvanized Beverage Server

galvanized beverage container

Hello, everyone!  I wanted to share a simple way to spruce up a galvanized tub and use it as a beverage server.  I purchased a plain galvanized tub last summer from Old Time Pottery for $10 with the intentions of using it for just this purpose.  Galvanized tubs can also be purchased at places like Tractor Supply or Farmer’s Co-Ops.

Hunter removed the two galvanized handles for each and enlarge the holes.  I simply inserted a piece of rope on each end and knotted it on the inside.  I found the iron bottle opener for a dollar, half price at Hobby Lobby.  We had a few Coca Cola openers mounted in the outdoor kitchen but my husband wouldn’t let me have those!  It was simply screwed in and secured with washers and nuts.
It’s a perfect size container to hold individual bottles or 2 liter bottles, as I did.  I found that using 2 liter drinks for larger functions is less expensive than buying individual drinks.  Individual drinks were too wasteful!

When not being used as a beverage server, I use it as a container for a fern!

This was just perfect for our outdoor, casual Memorial Day fish fry!  It kept the drinks cool while providing a convenient way for the guests to serve themselves!  Do you use anything special for your beverages?

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. What you did with the tub is so clever. The rope handles and the bottle-opener are perfect additions. You are right about the larger bottles being less wasteful and economical also. Great looking container for your fern too.
I like the look of galvanized metal. Looks like you are ready for a party.

Thanks for your visit. You asked if my shower was marble and it is not. It is porcelain tile.
