Tray to Shelf Transformation

 

Awhile back, I purchased this tray at GW for $4.99.  I didn’t know exactly what I was going to do with it…it was well built, solid wood.  Maybe a sign?  or how about a shelf?

 

 

I mixed up a little diy chalkpaint, which you can see here.  I applied three coats and let it dry thoroughly.  I, then, printed this image of a tea advertisement from The Graphics Fairy.  I thought about trying to transferring it but since I’ve had trouble with it in the past, I decided to mod podge it!

 

 

After about 4 coats of mod podge, I let it dry over night.  I applied a coat of clear wax, then a coat of dark wax.

This project was quick and easy…the kind I like!  If I collect more little glass containers I even have room to add an additional shelf!
