It’s that time of year again! Mardi Gras!! It has been referred to as a season here in Louisiana. Several neighboring towns have parades but to see the big boys you have to go to New Orleans! Can you believe that I have lived in Louisiana my entire life and have never been to a parade in New Orleans? When I was growing up, my parents wouldn’t take us because there are some wild people partying down there! Now that I grown with a family, I’ve never wanted to brave the traffic and the crowds!
Ok, on the the tablescape! I have a little Louisiana reflected in the crawfish and alligator beads draped around the centerpiece.
The centerpiece is a glass vase filled with beads and inserted with a couple of shiny things I picked up at the Dollar Tree. I started to use a gold tablecloth and then I thought, why not white? I’m glad that I did because it really makes everything POP!
I love the plate chargers! I topped it with a green glass plate and white and gold trimmed salad plates. I found these green plates at a yard sale this past summer. The lady had a tall stack of them and I got them all!! The salad plate is Noritake Richmond pattern. To see how I made the chargers, click here.
I used the shiny masks on top of the napkins to break up the white of the plate and napkin. My purple napkins were a different shade and I think there was enough gold here already!

Purple glasses are from Old Time Pottery and the green goblets are a yard sale find.
This set of beads is from the New Orleans Zulu parade.

Tammy I love your Mardi Gras table. I did one this week also! I love the colors and the fun of it all. I lived in New Orleans in the 1970's and went to many parades, so much fun...when I was young! Hugs, Linda

DeleteFun Mardi Gras table, Tammy!!! And you're so right...the white tablecloth allows the darker elements to pop off the table! I've never been to Mardi Gras, either. As an adult I am too chicken to brave all that hoopla, and as a kid my parents didn't want to brave the hoopla. So I guess it's just a celebration I'll have to admire from afar. A more intimate celebration like the one you have set up here is much more to my liking! I do NOT remember seeing those beautiful purple stems at OTP!!! Maybe they didn't put them out here in the KC market. I'm in that place all the time, and the first place I make a beeline to is the stemware aisle. It seems to me like they've really toned down the glassware over the last few months. A couple of years ago there was all kinds of exciting stuff. Now I see mostly clear and nothing really super exciting. Oh, well...maybe they're just taking a little break! I hope you have a great Mardi Gras weekend!!!! Party hard!!!!

DeleteGreat Tablescape for celebrating Mardi Gras! I love all the colors in each place setting. My favorite is how you encircled the charger with the beads, a creative move. The green glass plate gives a great pop of color! The centerpiece is very pretty with the cutout masks and then the use of real masks for napkin rings. Lots of Ideas!

DeleteI have never been to New Orleans. The colors of purple and green, and glassware in those colors are just beautiful. I love the beads draped around and the masks on the plates. I know that members of our church in Brazil leave the big cities for a retreat for the youth when Carnival is going on there. So Carnival there must be pretty wild.
