DIY Mardi Gras Plate Chargers

 

Remember last summer when I made the seashell chargers?  I decided to take that concept and use it to make some for Mardi Gras!!!  If you missed the seashell chargers, click here.  I must say they are my absolute favorite!!

 

 

I started with a plain gold charger that you can get just about anywhere.  I even pick them up from yard sales and Goodwill if the price is right!  I stopped off at the Dollar Tree and purchased some beads and doubloons.  Then out came the glue gun!!

 

 

I started by gluing a row of doubloons on the outer edge and just started layering!  Besides the doubloons, I used beads and even clipped apart a necklace to use the pieces.  This necklace was the in the previous picture. It was made of gold cards and dice.  By clipping it apart, I had more to work with.  I really would have like to have layered more but I went back to the Dollar Tree and they were out of doubloons!  Of course, I couldn’t find any around the house either!
