PB Knock Off Rustic Wall Organizer

 

I have finally finished my memo board!  I have been working on this thing for three weeks!  And that’s only on the transfer part!  It took Hunter all of 30 minutes to make the thing!
 

 

He took some 1X4’s and stripped them down to make the frame.  The slots on each side were cut at an angle using a router.  For the back, he used a piece of 1/4” plywood.  For the insert, I used a canvas board.  I didn’t have any batting so I used a couple of old towels for padding.  I made the cover approximately 12 times.  Yes, you read that right! Twelve times!  I used burlap, canvas, linen and burlap again!  I had the hardest time getting the transfer to work!  You would have thought that I would have more pictures of the process that I was too stressed to think about pictures! 
 

 

The top 2 graphics are from The Graphics Fairy.  The third one I did by hand!  This had been one of the most stressful projects I have ever done!  I even dreamed about the thing at night!  I used the freezer paper method for the transfers.  To me, it is harder to transfer on the burlap but I really wanted to use this fabric and towards the end I had to use it because that’s all I had left!
 

 

I did use the Sharpie pen to fill in the graphic a little more, not always having a steady hand though.
 

 

I decided on the last go around to use this Paris address thinking it would transfer easier but I was wrong!  I had to write almost the whole thing in!  I was determined that I was not going to do this a third time!
 

 

I took the easy way out on the pocket.  After all the stress of the transfers, I probably would have had a nervous breakdown if I had tried to use the sewing machine!
 

 

So, out came the iron and the glue gun!  I press down the seams using a damp cloth and the iron.  After I had everything the way I wanted it, I hot glued the seams together.

Mine is a little smaller at 30 inches tall.  The PB board is 48 inches.
 

 

So my latest project in the office is done.  Yes, I thought about doing it again because I’m not quite satisfied but there is NO way I’m going to attempt it now.  Maybe after having more success at transferring (if I ever do!).
