Gallery Wall in Stairwell

Source

Hanging a gallery wall in our stairway has been an ongoing plan of mine for awhile.  I love art groupings or even mirrors!

I do have 4 or 5 vintage mirrors stored away that I could use.

I do have more grain sacks that I could frame like the ones in the above picture or like I posted about last week.  To see my grain sack art, click here.  What I really want to do is use vintage art, or maybe a mixture of art and mirrors!

Here’s my real dilemma! My stairway is enclosed like the one below so I don’t wait the gallery wall to make it look too closed in.  Personally, I think the one below is a little too much for my area.

What do you think?  Will it make my stairway seem smaller?  Or should I do one wall, two walls, or none at all?  Just use art work or a mixture of mirrors and art work?

  3. Your stairwell is like mine and I like to use mirrors to bring in some light and open it up a bit. I also think less is more but definitely go for it! I'd love to see it!

  5. I don't think a gallery wall will make your stairwell look small, unless you put a LOT of things on the wall. If your stairwell is dark, light frames and a mix of mirrors could work. That's what i did in mine. I have a mix of old family photos,..parents, grandparents, etc. mirrors and a few decorative elements...nothing fancy. I'm in agreement with you about the last photo being too much. But, to each his own. :) Looking forward to seeing what you end up doing.

  7. I think it is a great idea. Please share pics when you finish.

I must say all the people must have been tall to reach hanging the pics. I can't see a ladder being safe to use on the stairs.

Thanks for visiting my blog. Please visit again. I appreciate your taking the time to comment.

  10. Tammy, I love the idea of the display along your staircase wall! I helped a friend do her wall several years ago and it looked great. She had photos of her children and other family members. Actually, the first one you posted is my favorite! Looks like Louisiana to me! ;)
