Crawfish, Crawdads, or Mudbugs

SAM_5260

It doesn’t matter what you call but I call them Good!  Especially boiled or in an etouffee!  I set up the table for two on the back porch.  Mainly because I only have two of the salad plates!

SAM_5225

This table kind of just fell together!  I found the two salad plates at Goodwill and snatched them up quick!  I remember working at Maison Blanche 25 years ago, goodness I’m getting old!, and we sold the daylights out of this pattern!  I don’t know exactly what the pattern is either!  These don’t have a mark on the back.  If anyone knows, please drop me a line.  I would love to buy some more!

Everything on the table is second hand!  Except for the flower stems, napkins and the shells!  The rusty red of the tablecloth blends in perfectly with the flowers and the crawfish on the plate.

The gray napkins (Target) pick up the color in the clam shells on the plate.  This is also why I chose to use stainless flatware (Reed & Barton) instead of gold which was my original plan.

You may recognize the stems.  They were on my summer mantel.

I am still in love with the Mikasa “The Ritz” stemware.

The china is Noritake in the Richmond pattern.

I used a few shells to decorate and added a little crawfish for a touch of whimsy!

TIP OF THE WEEK:  To prevent tablecloths from creasing, take a paper towel roll, cut it down the side, slip it over a clothes hanger and hang your tablecloth on it.  The paper towel roll will prevent it from creasing!  OR I just had a light bulb moment! you can use a pool noodle!!!

  1. I would love to eat crawfish, especially at your low country table! I have never had a crawfish pass my lips! And I would love to learn how to cook them. Typical northerner!
Great dishes! What a good "catch" at Goodwill!

  2. I love the plates. I am in Good will twice a week and find way too much. I have to pass by the plates at this point but I am glad you got these. I went to an estate sale on frat row in Athens in the spring and there was this big ole fish platter. I wanted it but even at half off $275 that was not happening. Visiting from Let's Dish, Olive

  7. Wonderful tablescape and the plates are just perfect for a seafood dinner. I love your thrifting at GW for they great finds. The tablescape is whimsical with the use of shells and lobsters. The tablecloth color grounds the all the hues in your design. Love the table! Please, be kind enough to view my thrifting finds for a tablescape this summer.

    Thanks, Pam
