I made a decision earlier this year to decorate our home using things that held special meaning to us. It didn’t matter if it was in style or not, even though it’s an added bonus if it is! This vintage chalkboard sign that we purchased from the auction is just such a special piece!
Did you know that the Barq’s Brothers Bottling Company was founded in 1890 in the French Quarter in New Orleans, right here in our great state of Louisiana? I think it also looks perfect with the platter that I found at this years Trash to Treasure Sale.
The platter is decorated with some great seafood, which Louisiana is also known for!
I’m debating if I should spruce it up with a coat of chalkboard paint and possibly add a small frame around it. What do you think?

Hi Tammy,
ReplyDeleteLOVE your colours!! The new additions are so pretty and personal, which, as you said, make it all the more special. Because you've got two door frames relatively close to the chalkboard, which already has the logo sign, I think a frame would be a bit too much, in my opinion. And, because the plate is rather shiny and new, I would also give the chalkboard a new coat of paint, which would make it stand out a little more. Great finds and good luck!

I love adding items that really have special meaning! The chalkboard is great and that plate says so much about the amazing Louisiana! Thanks for linking with TTF.

Tammy, everything looks great as it is, (in my opinion)but it could be because, I love the old look of the Barq's chalk board. My husband loves Barq's root beer in the bottles, but cannot stand the cans. Your plate is very nice...love it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the memories!
Helen
First, I love the chalkboard.
ReplyDeleteSecond, I made the same decision about two years ago about decorating. I want my home to tell a story to me and from me.
If I have ever been to this blog before, I don't remember. I have totally enjoyed my walkabout this morning so am following to see more. I like your style.
Tammy,
ReplyDeleteI love it as is! What a great find. And your platter is a perfect representation of Louisiana - it reminds me of my Grandmother and her Louisiana roots!
Hi Tammy! Oh, this wall looks wonderful. I love your little chalk board and I love it just as it is. The platter just sets it off. Seafood and rootbeer! Great combination.
ReplyDeleteThanks for popping in to see me.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

I always had a chalk board in my past huge kitchen. Now my kitchen is small but I'm gonna find a place for one, as I love your chalk board as it is and love that awesome platter too! Big hugs,

Love it and it looks great with the beadboard paneling. I think I like the way it is without a frame.
ReplyDeleteSo cute and fun. Great idea. Thanks for linking to Inspire Me. Hugs, Marty
