Flamingo Tablescape

SAM_4963

For some reason, it seems like everywhere I turn, a flamingo catches my eye!  Last summer, I bought my first flamingo.  Well, it was a set of flamingo glasses from the Salvation Army.

They came in this little basket with a set of six glasses.  Now, I’m down to five!  Hunter accidentally broke one just a couple of days after I got them.

I’ve been wanting to do a tablescape with some flamingo touches and since I picked up a metal flamingo at Old Time Pottery, I decided to do one for this week.

It’s going to look so cute in one of my flower beds!

I started by using a vintage tablecloth that my mom gave me.  The leaves on the tablecloth reminds me of big tropical leaves. I used my flamingo glasses and candlewick glasses.

The table setting consists of rattan chargers (Walmart) topped with robin’s egg blue dinner plate ($ Tree).  I then layered a white salad plate (Pier One) with a clear clam plate.

Hot pink napkins added a little pop!  The pink flatware is a recent purchase from Goodwill.

Salt and pepper shakers are a Florida souvenir.

I found the little flamingoes at the Dollar Store.

TIP OF THE WEEK:  When hosting a party or get together where you serve scoops of ice cream, get a head start by softening the ice cream, scoop individual portions onto a tray covered with wax paper.  Put the tray in the freezer.  Once the scoops firm up, put them into a larger bowl with a lid.  When ready to serve, it will be super easy and quick to get the ice cream ready!
Thanks for stopping by!

  4. Tammy, what a great tip on the ice cream! I'd have never ever thought of that. Love your sweet flamingo tablescape! Sorry about the broken glass. Maybe ebay will eventually turn one up. Your table turned out perfect. I love the way the pink flowers and grasses of the tablecloth fit in so perfectly. xo marlis

  5. Very cute! I love the flamingo theme. It reminds me of when one my close friends and I both had campers and camped together alot. I redid mine in Palm tree decor and she redid her's in Flamingos. Good times! Flamingos are just so fun and lively. Your centerpiece is adorable! I love all the other flamingo pieces you have acquired too. Thanks for the ice cream tip...that's a wonderful idea!

  8. Count me in as a flamingo fan. When my daughter graduated from high school and was going to attend the Univ. of Tampa, she wanted a "Flamingo" themed graduation party. It was tastefully tacky! I still have one or 2 now that I'm in FL too. I love that tablecloth and the setting by the pool is perfect.

  11. Hey there, Tammy Tammy! I'm diggin' the flamingos, lady! There's just something about them that turns a person's head. I don't know if it's the bright pink color or the long neck or skinny little legs...they just have a fun presence about them. How great is that that you were able to pick some glasses up with them on there at Goodwill??? Cool! GREAT yard art, too! I think the vintage cloth is the thing that gives the whole table not only a fabulous retro look, but pulls it all together. Very nice!!! I hope you have a good weekend and that you don't melt away! :-)
