Please join me for a "walk in the countryside" while I reflect on things that are near and dear to my heart....faith, family, friends, and our home. I post at least 3 times a week if not more. I am using dial up internet at the moment so I don't always get to visit and comment like I want to.
I am a stay at home mom of two teenage children. We have homeschooled for the last 8 years. My husband and I built our home ourselves along with some help from family and friends. I don't pretend to know a lot about home decorating, I just know what I like. I love touring old homes and being in Louisiana, we have quite a few. My husband is a carpenter by trade and I try my best to keep him busy at home. (It doesn't always work)
My 17 year old is a very handy young man. He loves all things old and is a collector of junk...I'm sorry, I mean merchandise. My 14 year old daughter is a typical teenager that helps me around the house with cooking and cleaning. She even contributes to my posts sometimes and makes sure that I give her credit!
We have basset hound named Fred. Yeah, he's named after the dog on Smokey and the Bandit. He's actually my son's dog but we have all grown attached to him. We have a few cows, a horse, and lots of chickens. My husband is wanting a pig but I'm putting my foot down about that one, or trying to.
I love to go to auctions, thrift stores, garage sales, estate sales. etc. The only bad part is that in our part of the country there is not as much selection as you hear about from others that live in the cities.
I enjoy tablescaping and entertaining even though we don't do it often enough. We do have an annual 4th of July bbq and a Christmas Open House for family and friends.
